This one day course teaches the skills needed to relieve the pain from a lame cow prior to being trimmed by a professional trimmer
What you can expect from this Course:
- basic anatomy of the foot and landmarks
- Tools for the job (including knife sharpening)
- recognition of the main lesions causing lameness
- handling, lifting and examination of a foot
- practical sessions including one-to-one teaching from a qualified and experienced foot trimmer
- practical trimming and blocking using a variety of different blocks and glues
- appropriate treatment protocols: block choice and NSAID administration
Places are necessarily restricted to enable maximum individual tuition.
This is a LANTRA-approved course. Attendees will need to demonstrate competence at the techniques taught and successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Competence awarded by LANTRA.
